It started in the NFL and now is an accepted part of officiating
games in baseball, basketball and hockey. But at the high school level?
The agency that regulates high school sports in New Jersey is
considering adding videotape replay to examine last-second shot in high
school championship basketball games.
Replay was approved for next season by the National Federation of
State High School Associations, but each state association must decide
on the matter for itself.
The new rule only would allow review of last-second shots at the end of
the fourth quarter or an overtime period if they would affect the
outcome of the game.
A spokesman for the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic
Association said it was looking into whether to allow replay but not
decision had been made.
